Week 6 Blog

Intersession had started, no campers for 2 days! AMAZING! We were meant to have meetings but I didn't listen to any of them! I had been moved to Arava, a younger group of kids, and a new set of co counsellors! We had to re arrange the bunk for the new campers!

The new set of campers arrived Tuesday morning, and it was such an early start, but it didn't matter too much as I was doing the radio show which meant I could chill, and I was on traffic duty for a bit too!

Teaching started again on Wednesday which was wierd to do after 2 Weeks! I had 3 C.I.T's - Dawn, Peanut and Henry to assist me with the teaching which was good! I've also started to get to know other C.I.T's which is really good to make more friends!

On one night this past week, some of the Kitchen staff and the Israelis held a rave up in the Bait, was really good until Frank the Tank shut it down! Grrr!

The rest of the week has been cool, our International Lads 07 hoodies arrived and I managed to break my camera, which after being on the phone to the insurance company for around 1 hour, found out I was covered for accidental damage! So I ordered a new one off Amazon.com on Friday. It was really good value and a really decent camera. At least I will be able to capture the moment now until I return home to the UK!

Week 5 Blog

Week 5 at camp was the last week of the 1st session. This week was when Color War would take place. I guess you culd say it is just like the Olympics - 4 team each with a theme and a color. The theme was The Wizard of Oz. I was to be in the Green(Scarecrow) team. The other teams were Gold(Lion), Red(Dorothy) and Blue(Tin Man).

As I wasn't teaching radio I had to go around with my team to various activities. This included Gaga, Soccer, Volleyball, Relay amongst others. On the first night, it as tug of war. Our kids were doing us proud! Then we had a staff tug of war - which counted for points! I was in the green tug of war tea. We won our first one, but our second was so tough. We were inches from winning but as it was so draining, we lost! Was a shame but good fun!

On the second night of the war, we had Color dances. There were 3 categories - Israeli, Modern and Stomp! We won the Modern, came second in the Israeli and 4th in Stomp! We were in the lead at this time!

The third day activities caused us to be second going into the final night activity - the singing. We had 3 songs - an Israeli song, a Fight song and a third. It was great and we won the Israeli and the Third songs which meant we won the Color War. It was great to win and the kids were so excited!

We had the Galil dance on the Thursday night which was really fun and also made me miss going out clubbing! LOL!

On Saturday it was the C.I.T's banquet and this year's theme was Harry Potter. They had turned the Dining Hall into Hogwarts with floating candles, the sorting hat, house areas, posters etc etc! It was amazing! Was so fun to see it all! The C.I.T's had dressed in Harry Potter costumes to add to the flava!

Sunday was the last day of camp and the kids left early, was sad to see some go but was a relief! I got a $60 tip from a family which was really nice! That night some of us went bowling at the local lanes which was really good! I didn't do too well though lol!

So the next set of kids arrive this Tuesday, I'm really excited!!!!! NOT!

Week 4 Blog

Week 4 started so good! The whole of Junior Camp went to Dorney Park Amusement Park in Allentown! I was pumped for this as I have never heard of it before! After a ride in the famous yellow school buses, we split ino groups! Our first ride was Talon. It was a suspended coaster and great! The rides were all too immense to explain in words but Steel Force had a 205ft drop, another was nearly 100 years old and Hydra had sooo many twists and turns etc etc. I managed to get on all the big rides about 3 times each as there was no queues and sit at the front on each of them! Unfortunately on the way home I noticed my sun burn. Damn hurt!

Then the day went from great to shit when I noticed my iPod had been stolen from my room at camp while I was away. This really pissed me off especially we turned the place upside down and I retraced my steps which confirmed it had been stolen!

So the day after, I went to the State Police Station with Jesse (driver) and I got interviewed by a cop who gave me a reference number and said he will look into it!

So the rest of the week I was ill with sunburn and a sore throat, but it was recovered by Thursday in time to go with Kinslow (from my room), Suzanne and Loretta to Baltimore. It was a good 3hr30m car journey but was a rite laugh! We stayed in his Uni accomodation, just outside Baltimore in Towson, pretty nice place! We went into town and had Sushi for dinner. Then we went to get drunk in a bar, which I got served in! Was sweet!

The walk home was fun, as we got more beer from a Liquor store and then I nicked a sign saying "Sidewalk Closed" which was funny, especially as we had to keep dropping the sign and walk on whenever a police car drove past!

Waking up with a hangover isn't good, but I recovered as we visited a typical USA Diner before our drive home! Was tasty!

Next week is the start of Color War, I'll explain more then!

Wal Mart and Arbys

So me, Kinslow, Dunstan and Lilian just got back from our night out! We went to Walk Mart first and Dunstan was chatting this hotty up. Was well funny cos he just kept on yelling 'DUNSTAN' at the top of his voice to her horror!

Then we went to get some food from Arby's - like Mc Donalds type place - where another hotty was working. Dunstan yet again was joking with her which we both joined in to. Was well funny being stupid and winding her up! I love acting like a kid again!

I wish I had my camera! lol.

Week 3 Blog

Nothing much to report this week, apart that I've felt like shit the whole time! Had a really bad cold and my nose was so sore. I went to Wawa's on a night out with Sprinkles (my co-councellor) which was cool to see. It was like a convenience store, known by me as to where Don Vito buys hoagies! lol.

At the end of the week, Saturday, myself and Jamie got a lift from Allie to a friend of hers party in Allentown. Was a very messy night, and a right laugh! Some of the pictures were crazy when we looked at them the next day, but was amazing to experience an American Party. Music was great, burds were fit as and it was amazing to get sooo drunk!

So hopefully next week I'll feel better!

Independence Day - LOL

Well today has been a great day to be English! July 4th is Independence Day of the USA! Ok, I was expecting a few digs, but I don't think Camp was expecting a strong defence from us English folk.

Firstly, we all wore our England Football Tops

Secondly, all the English lads came into the Radio Studio this morning and we broadcast a special song just for the Special Day - God Save The Queen - The British National Anthem

Thirdly, the whole camp had a flag raising ceremony. While they were chanting all their USA crap, we were doing mexican waves, singing England chants as well as the National Anthem! Also we were singing along to Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend with the lyrics "Hey Hey You You We Are All From England". Was tops!

This was my first July 4th in the USA, and OMG it's OTT!

And Now I'm sitting here listening to Capital 95.8! HOW PATRIOTIC!

Week 2 Blog

So after an amazing first week in the States, week 2 was when the hard work started! The kids were arriving on Tuesday!

On Monday I did my first Radio show with the other Specialist, Max! Was good and I was quite nervous, but I'm here to do a job, so I think I did well! We were assigned the bunks and units - I was In unit Galil (12-13) and Bunk Boys 1.

As the kids arrived on Tuesday, we had to be on the air playing songs, I managed to play Umbrella 3 times which was fun, everyone is loving it. I went to my bunk and met my campers, seemed like a good bunch of kids! We had a few games of GaGa and I won one of them! I wrote a letter to Kirby.

It's been a busy week, I've been so tired waking up so early to do the radio - 7am every day! Some kids are absolute terrors to teach, but it is a challenge! The food has been pretty shite! Went fishing with Jamie and Luke on Friday. Was fun - I caught 1 fish and had my hook in a huge one - got away though!

Just got back from Allentown where I went for a night with Ian and Jamie. On the way to the bus station, we were listening to Radio 1 in the car Via Sirus radio. It's satellite radio - really cool! But weird to listen to English radio over in the USA! When we got to Allentown, we got a cab to Airport Road and stayed in a Red Roof Inn, dead cheap and pretty nice, went for a meal and to the cinema.

We ate in a restaurant called Red Robin - I liked it as it was for My Dad and The Mighty Addicks! LOL! Had a starter of chicken wings which were big enough to be a main meal and then a Bacon Cheeseburger. Was so nice and ridiculously cheap! We then decided to go to the Cinema to see Shrek The Third. Was a good movie and was funny to see Ian fall asleep in it! LOL.

Back to the hotel, watched a little bit of TV and was horrible to see on the news about England having attempted terrorist attacks with 2 car bombs in London and a Flaming Car crashing into Glasgow Airport! And then flooding around a lot of the country! What have I left behind?!

We came back this morning and Jesse (camp driver) picked us up after the bus, we went to a supermarket to grab a bite to eat and came back to camp.

So another exciting week, I am shattered though!
